He wanted me to keep reading.
I was imagining the clock in my mind and feeling the need to move on to math.
I started to say no, we're done for today.
"Oh come on, be an old dear!"
Yes. That is what my nearly 10 year old said to me.
After we all had a good laugh, of course, I read on.

I *love* this.
This really is adorable. And I get your hesitation. I tend to think (not that you do) that the basics of English, math and history are more important than hearing a story. I think my thinking has been skewed for a VERY long time. Keep it up, old woman...uh, I mean, old dear. :)
