Favorites

These are a few of my favorite things...
sweet baby feet,
bubbles and smiles,
playing out in the warm sunshine,
and books in a comfy spot.

On Moving

Why does taking the "a e i o and u" down off the school room wall bring a lump to my throat?  Maybe because this is the place Kayla learned to read.  Or the place where we have struggled through each others good days and bad, attitudes and triumphs.  The place where we've put in hours of math facts, stars and planets, writing and copying.
Not to mention the rest of the house.  We brought Lucy home.  Here.  Lost teeth.  Had sleepovers.  Prayers.  Story after story.  Tears and giggles.  Talks and quiet.
I know we'll have much more of this and even new memories.  And as happy as I am to be moving on, I think any place you raise your family has a place in your heart.  And you just don't forget it so easily.
Will heaven be like that, I wonder?  Will we remember the labors of our hands with thankful hearts and yet enjoy the newness and perfection of our new, eternal home?  I don't know.  But I do long for that place where we will not have to move on- where we will enjoy our eternal rest and our heavenly Father forever.

Everybody needs a good bath after so much hard work.  Even if the hair gets a little crazy...
We closed on our house!  Let the fun begin...
This guy is starting young...

Did anyone else have thunderstorms today?  We had a great spring storm this afternoon- and even some hail.  I don't know when the last time I saw hail was.  It was a first for the kids. I took pictures of it but blogger isn't picking them up right now.
Kayla said, "Well that's the craziest thing I've seen all day!"  Oh that made me laugh.  I have to wonder what other crazy things she is used to seeing!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  What a beautiful day to celebrate an empty tomb and a risen Savior.  I think Easter is my favorite "holiday."  So much hope, newness of life.
I've got lots of pictures to share.  It's hard to choose which ones sometimes, you know?  I guess a mom loves all the pictures of her kids.   I am a rich woman indeed.
We actually had a better shot when everyone was looking but this one was closer up so here's another one of just the kids:
 Aren't those girls beautiful?
I think all these kids had to eat until dinnertime was candy.
One minute we are getting picture, the next this guy is running around without a shirt on!
It was a good day for a picnic.  Jack had four chicken legs and a wing.  I guess the candy was long gone.  He tends to run from the camera lately which is why pictures of him are sometimes hard to come by.  He does love a river though.  Always seems so content by one.
I hope they always enjoy each other.
This walk, as pretty as it was, turned out to be more exercise than I bargained for.  A good way to close out the day.  We were so glad to have Brian home for some good family time.

Had to get a few pictures of Lucy up before they are outdated!  She is such a sweet, easy baby.  She's getting so big!!  And losing her hair.  I think she'll be a blondie before too long.
