Super-Duper Cold

Well I surely couldn't let today pass without a post.
It. was. cold.
Super-duper-duper cold, as the little ones like to say.
Below 0 cold.
And our power went out around 7 this morning.
That always makes for an exciting day.  I had already had my coffee (yay!) and Sammy was eating breakfast when the lights went out.  The others trickled downstairs then went back up for their sleeping bags.  The kids stayed like that in the living room for a couple of hours, eating dry cereal and either reading or listening to me read.  Not a bad start.
We did a little school and Brian brought us pizza and hot water (from work) for hot chocolate.
When the thermostat read 59 degrees I decided to hit the road to Granny's.  We spent the afternoon at Brian's parents' house and had a nice hot dinner.  Our neighbor sent me a text that the power came back on around 4.  Yay!
Lucy said she's glad the doesn't have to go potty in the dark now.
Thankful for electricity!  And thankful we don't live in a place where this is normal weather!

Staying warm and wondering- how long?

Ice on the INside of our windows this morning.  Pretty cool.

A hot dinner...how nice that sounds. Hey, we're supposed to hit 40 warm (?) degrees as a high tomorrow. And nearly 60 this weekend. May it come your way a day or so later. Doesn't sixty sound perfectly balmy? :)

I saw this on FB. What a day to lose power. Our kids did too, but in the evening and it was only off about two hours. The kids had fun. They were running around with flashlights, etc so probably kept warm.
